Entry

How to Enter

  • Entries to our events are online through “SiEntries” which will be linked from this website when entries open.

  • Agreement to the “Statement of Responsibility” on the SIEntries website is part of registering to ride in an event.

  • You do not need a license to race in the Aberdeenshire Enduro Series (AES).

  • Events are limited to 350 participants, on a first come first served basis.

  • Once a race is full a waiting list will be created. You can be added to this via SIentries.

  • Entry to each round of the AES will close on the Wednesday prior to the event, with no on the day entry currently possible.

Entry Fees

£40 – Youths (9-12)

£45 – Lite (shorter route)

£50 – Juniors (13-17)

£55 – Full (all categories other than above)

Refunds are available (with a £10 admin/card fee) until online entries closes. After online entries close, refunds will not be given, other than exceptional circumstances at the organisers’ discretion.

Rules

General

  • Riders should not leave any rubbish along the route. ALL food wrappers, drink bottles, tubes etc must please be carried to the finish line and not discarded anywhere along the route. Anyone seen discarding rubbish will be disqualified and will not receive a time or position as applicable (take memories or photos, but leave only tyre marks).

  • Riders should not modify race number plates.

  • Riders should not have any external help in cycling around the course, including eBike towing and vehicle lifts.

  • Competitors should read the pre-race course briefing notes sent in the briefing email.

  • Competitors should obey instructions from Marshals at all times. They are there for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

  • Any Rider withdrawing from the event should notify the race office as soon as possible,and hand back their timing chip.

  • Every competitor should adapt his/her speed and his/her behaviour to his/her personal abilities, his/her equipment and to the general conditions the event is raced in.

Course

  • Riders must ride responsibly, taking care of other forest users and vehicles.

  • Any dangerous or disrespectful behaviour against other racers, marshals, nature, trails or spectators will lead to a time penalty depending of the level of the fault. Race Organiser can also decide to disqualify the Rider.

  • The course will be marked with signs and tape. Where a course is double taped (both sides of the trail line) Riders must ride between the tape.  Anything else is placed as a guideline as to the direction of the course.

  • Any Rider riding out with transition (signed trails) will be disqualified immediately.

  • If a Rider exits the timed stage course, he/she must re-enter at the same point and, if altered, restore the tape as he/she found it.

  • It is the Rider’s responsibility to ensure a correct roll in and out from the timed stages. Please ensure you are totally certain of how the timing dibber works BEFORE you set off. Missed/early dibs may not be able to be rectified. 

Youths (9-12 year olds) & Chaperones

  • Each youth rider must have an adult (18+) chaperone, who must accompany the youth to race registration

  • A chaperone can only look after a maximum of two youth riders

  • The chaperone will ride (and not race) behind the youth on the time stages and be available to take care of any issues which may occur e.g. bike problems, injuries or withdrawals

  • Any youth withdrawing during the race must be accompanied by the chaperone to Race HQ (and no youth may be left on the course without a chaperone)

Ride Equipment

  • Riders must wear a certified helmet (xc or full face) at all times, including transfer sections. Riders found not wearing a helmet may be disqualified.

  • Gloves and knee, elbow and back protection are strongly recommended.

  • Bikes must be in good working order with firm brakes and good pad condition; mandatory bar plugs; headset and suspension in good working order.

  • Each competitor must be completely self-sufficient. There will be no guarantee that food or water out on the course; food and drink is available in the event village.

Rider Etiquette

  • Riders must follow marshal instructions at all times (and may be disqualified for not doing so).

  • Riders will be set off at a minimum of 20 secs intervals on Race Day. Please let faster riders past. If you are the faster rider give a clear shout “RIDER” that you are approaching.  If you are the slower rider, please move to the side allowing a clear line for the passing rider.

  • If you come across an injured rider, please stop to help them if necessary, once another rider approaches signal and seek the nearest marshal if necessary.

  • Youth Riders will be given priority over other competitors and will be asked to ride the downhill section one after the other with the youth rider(s). 

Photography / Videography

Complaints

  • Any complaints about the race should be done formally to Race HQ within 15 minutes of the end of the Rider’s race.

  • Any complaints about the results should be done formally to Race HQ within 24hrs of result’s publication.

  • By entering and participating in the race, you consent to be photographed, filmed and/or otherwise recorded. Your entry constitutes your consent to such photography, filming and/or recording and to any use, in any and all media.
